Greeting! I am Rebecca. I have always been driven and enthusiastic about helping people achieve their goals and live out their full potential since the early stage of my career as an educator, a guidance counsellor, and a career development facilitator.
When my pursuit of developing others was full grown, I decided to shift my trajectory to psychotherapy because of the critical reality I encountered – mental health issues impairing daily functioning in the lives of my students and adult clients. When they were distressed from mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, relational conflicts, etc., achieving their educational and occupational goals becomes extraordinarily difficult, even unreachable, without professional intervention.
As a psychotherapist, there is no bigger joy to see my clients recover from mental health impairments and continue their studies or find their desired jobs. It is my passion to help my clients restore their authentic selves, connect with their intrinsic values, and move on to the future and thrive.
My approach features multidimensional and integrative.
In the assessment process, I will investigate the causes of your symptoms from a systemic and wholistic view based on Family System theories and a perspective of physiological, psychological, socio-economical, and cultural integration.
Through the lens of trauma and attachment theories, I will help you recognize the root issues that have caused various mental health challenges. Through the viewpoint of developmental psychology and family system theories, I will guide you (young clients) to understand the psycho-social crisis in your critical life transitioning stages. From the cultural and socioeconomic perspective, I will help you (immigrants and refugees) recognize some common risk factors that impair your mental health and wellness.
During the treatment process, I leverage various psychotherapeutic modalities, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative. For activating your changing process and consolidating your progress, I appropriate strategies from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I will tailor your treatment plan in alignment with the uniqueness and level of complexity of your case.
I will be there in the journey of your mental health recovery.
